Let’s Party At The Beach…

BeachCalypsoAs I have already mentioned, I have scouted out my Summer beach hangouts and began planning Summer menu ideas that area easy peasy to keep me from entering a hot kitchen on a hot Summers day. I also attribute many of those menu ideas to Pinterest. Over Memorial Day weekend, I started thinking of comfort at the beach, not only for me but for my son who loves to build sandcastles and play in the sun, but doesn’t know when too much son is enough. When you’re at the beach, sometimes you can’t call your child into the shade, because there is none. What about when it’s time to unpack that picnic lunch, and you want to eat in the cool shade? So I started looking into beach and sun shelters for my family.

After searching and reading reviews on tons of beach shelters, I decided on a Beach Calypso Cabana that best fit my family’s needs, which included size, UV protection, wind stability, portable carrier, and mesh windows that can be closed for privacy or open to allow in the ocean breeze. So with that solved, before it could even become a problem for us, I thought I’d share a few other tips to make trips to the beach and park a breeze.

I have this little zipper pouch that is similar to a makeup bag, but you won’t find tubes of Chanel lipstick or bottles of London nail polish in this bag. (Those are in my Trina Turk bag, LOL) Instead you will find all travel sizes of Clorox wipes, Charmin To Go, Boogie Wipes, Kandoo potty wipes, Kids Sani-Hands, Bath & Body Works sanitizer, tissue, and Wet Ones. I’ve found myself on play dates with my tot or around other mothers and their tots, and it amazes me how an item from my little pouch really helped them out of a jam. Here I thought all mothers had a similar bag, because Lord knows how many times my son and I have been in a bathroom and find no tissue, or at the park and needed to wash our hands and there’s no soap, and let’s not forget the dirty restaurant or picnic table outdoors that is barely clean, yet you expect me to eat off of it? Uh-Uh, that’s when my Clorox wipes come in handy!

Fast forward to present day, I received a daily deal email from a mommy site for a cute little zipper bag filled with maybe 5 to 7 things a mom needs for their tot on the go, prices at $25. It was only 1 of each item, which as you see with the items I listed above, a travel size of Clorox wipes have at least 9 sheets in the pack. The Charmin to go tissue has at least 10 sheets in the travel pack. So before you go out and spend $25 on a cute bag and 1 of each item, look in your closet for one of your old make-up bags and hit the travel section of Babies R’ Us or even Target and spend no more than $10 on tissue wipes, hand wipes, Clorox wipes, wet ones and all the key essentials that make life at the playground or outdoors germ-free and clean.

Here’s to having fun AND a piece of mind this Summer! Cheers!
